  • LOPA VAN DER MERSCH

Founder of Rasa Superfunctional Coffee, Kashmiri Shaivite Tantra Practitioner

Lopa’s life has taken some wide turns, but she’s always had an obsession with energy.
After dropping out of college, Lopa moved to Costa Rica to caretake a wildlife refuge in virgin rainforest. There was no electricity, and the nearest 100-person town was a two hour boat ride away. “I once walked 5 hours to make a phone call, fording a river known to have crocodiles to get there. I was surrounded by both beautiful and deadly things.” She became intimate with the power of nature, and developed a profound respect for its energy and our place within it.

In her early 20s, she took initiation into a Kashmiri Shaivite Tantra lineage, and spent the better part of a decade in deep study and practice of Yoga, Ayurveda, & meditation—spending a total of 6 months in retreat. Midway through that journey, Lopa felt the pull to bring her practice into more direct benefit of the world at large.

She went on to co-found two climate solution companies, worked with Richard Branson’s Carbon War Room, lobbied at the United Nations, spoke at TEDxBerkley, traveled to a total of 26 countries, and, finally, started Rasa Superfunctional Coffee; an alternative to coffee, with a personal mission to transform the way people energize.

  • INGRID AVISON

Singer songwriter, Grief and Trauma Therapist

Ingrid Avison writes about the real stuff and sings it with a powerful yet intimate voice–a tantalizing combination of Fiona Apple, Jewel and Lake Street Dive’s Rachel Price. Her songs are unashamed, honest and packed with full-throated human emotion. In essence, she’s a love-hard, grieve-hard, dream-big kinda woman and delivers that in spades. Her lyric-driven songs show her connection to grief and loss, nature and joy. Ingrid’s debut album and live performances invite you along a journey that is soulful and psychedelic in one moment, then raw and aching in the next. Her charismatic presence will have you laughing, then crying, then laughing again. She calls it “the tears to laughter pipeline.”

Ingrid’s own journey through grief, loss and love has also led her to becoming a grief and trauma therapist. In that role, Ingrid explores ways to help people move through the ups and downs of life–all while navigating complex systems of power, oppression and privilege. Ingrid delights in the parallels between music performance and being a therapist - both have the potential to create a vessel to explore one’s own soulful and spiritual landscapes, whether that’s through a song or a therapy session.
